September 2025 General Welfare Program Payment
We are happy to share that on September 12th, 2025, we will be issuing our first payment under the Tribe’s new General Welfare Assistance Program. Tribal Council has authorized the first payment to be $870.00.
While we are excited to bring this new program to the membership and have a few reminders:
- Members will not be receiving a per capita payment for the month of September however, this new needs-based program will be available, and a payment distributed to all eligible Tribal Members.
- General Welfare payments are non-taxable payments that will be made to all eligible members to help maintain their health, well-being, independence and quality of life. We believe all enrolled Grand Ronde Tribal Members are eligible for this new program because we are facing the same rising prices and economic hardships.
These payments will be made quarterly and are non-taxable general welfare payments to enrolled tribal members. - For those members receiving SSI, this new General Welfare Assistance Payment Program will allow the Tribe to make assistance payments that are not subject to federal income tax and that will not reduce other SSI payment(s).
- Future payment amounts will be determined by Tribal Council just ahead of the next quarterly payment. Payments will be made to members via direct deposit or check (whichever has been requested by the member). General welfare payments being made to minor children will be deposited into a new sub account for the minor(s). Because this is a needs-based program, Tribal members will not be able to deposit these payments into Adult Savings accounts.
We recognize that this new program will be different and will take some time to get used to. Please don’t hesitate to reach to us with questions.
